Caring for your Lilly Pulitzer Wardrobe
In this post, I share my laundry must-haves and tips for keeping your Lilly Pulitzer Wardrobe looking BEAUTIFUL for years to come!! I am, by no means, the end-all be-all in this space, but with my experience of caring for a Large wardrobe of lilly Pulitzer pieces, I feel i have some offerings that you may find helpful! (within this post is a link to my amazon shop. i may earn a Commission for products purchased through this link.)
How to get it done
before washing any pieces, i always sort my laundry into piles with like colors. I typically have a whites, lights, pinks, brights, and darks pile. i also keep a towel pile on the side for any towels i find in my laundry hamper. when washing my laundry, until i know my garments better, i always ready the care tags before tossing it in. you Want to avoid washing silks in the machine (there will be another post on caring for your garments, such as elsa tops) and throwing everything in the dryer. once you’re more familiar with the care instructions of your pieces, you can decide the best option for your pieces. before washing your items and after you’ve read the care instructions, place one of your sorted loads in the washing machine. you can use the woolite Darks defense for your dark load(s) and the other woolite for the rest of your loads. I always toss in a cap full of the scent beads and load up my detergent dispensing tray with the appropriate items and wash on delicates cold. once the wash is finished, sort through the pieces and hang dry or tumble dry based on the care tag. Additionally, I am very picky about which pieces go into the dryer. they will always say to “tumble dry low” before they’re considered safe to dry and even then, i do not dry my jeans and most of my tops.
- things you will need:
- woolite laundry detergent
- downy fabric softener (i love the “calm” line), scent beads, and dryer sheets
- laundry basket
- drying rack, shirt and pant hangers, (possibly) rolling rack for additional drying space and midi/maxi dresses
- Wool Dryer Balls
In the link above, you will find all the items I mention in the list.
